In the beginning

In the beginning, there was data. The data told of all things in the
universe, but was not useful because it was indecipherable, not having
clear delineations. And The Designer said, "Let the data be separated
into ones and zeros so that it may be easily quantified. They shall be
called bits and we shall use them to represent meaning, that we can
decipher and use the data." And the bits were good. Thus went the
first clock cycle, rising edge and falling edge.

OK, so I started just a little bit before this very cool segfault
article. It picks up with, "In the beginning, Turing created the
machine." And it uses the word 'begat' a fully appropriate number of
times for such a piece.
