Yes, another satellite for our viewing pleasure. I suppose we'll
have to watch the news for this one, though. It's a bit north
of here.
Ever feel like there's too many dang hunks of metal hurtling around
the Earth at ungodly speeds? I no longer feel safe...
Straight from AOL (who says they're all lamers?):
Chinese Satellite May Hit Earth
Parts of a Chinese spy satellite could hit the Earth after it
reenters the atmosphere tonight, the United States Space Command said.
The imaging satellite, the size of a small car, could reenter the
atmosphere sometime between 9 p.m. and midnight EST, the space
command said, but it was too early to predict over which area it
might reenter the atmosphere. In Tokyo, the Japanese Science
and Technology Agency, citing NASA, said parts of the satellite
may crash about 10:30 p.m. EST in the Pacific Ocean off southern
Alaska. The satellite is hurtling at speeds ranging from 17,000 mph
to 17,600 mph and orbits the earth every 88 minutes. China's
space agency said the satellite may crash in the South Pacific
about 11 p.m.
