Here's an idea: (note the name below can of course be changed)

Subject: Why did you do this?
Dear friends,
I'm sending this message to tell you about one of my best friends,
Stephanie. We originally met in seventh grade, and quickly became
inseperable. In high school, we played together on the volleyball team,
and shared sweet victories and bitter defeats. Although we grew together
and were alike in so many ways, one of our greatest differences was that
while I am somewhat gullible and willing accept what people tell me, she
was always more inquisitive and skeptical. She did better than me in
school as a result, and I always aspired to pursue the high dreams she
sought.
Those dreams are now brought to an end, because she was raped and killed
last week. Two weeks ago, we received this message. I forwarded it and
encouraged her to do so also, but she wouldn't listen, saying perpetuating
chain letters is a felony (which it is) and that it wouldn't be terribly
nice to the people who received it. She paid the price.
The reason I am sending this out to all of you is because she would not
have had to make that decision if the message had not reached her. I
know you're probably thinking, "Well, better her than me. I had to send
the message to someone." But you made the choice to send that message
to the people you did, and here is the consequence of your action. Most
of you do not know Stephanie, and most of you do not know me, but each of
you have touched both our lives with blackness.
Stephanie's funeral is next week. Her family stands there, faces in their
hands, shaking their heads, wondering, "Why must this happen to our
daughter." They don't know why, but now you do. Please consider the
consequences of your actions carefully.
